Adventures of Semalu RV Park Review Sonoma County Fairground RV Park

After a couple nights in Marin we headed north for the rest of our stay in the Bay Area before heading back up to Humboldt County. We still had things to do and friends and family to see. Maple did an exhaustive search and found the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, CA. This was where we finally had our first rain while in the Airstream. Spoiler alert, we love the rain. Marin RV Park (Larkspur, CA)

After a week in Arizona we hitched up and settled in for a long drive back up to Humboldt County with a short stop planned in the San Francisco Bay Area. We made some stops of course while passing through Arizona and stopped for a quick overnight in the Mojave desert at a beautiful and busy rest stop. But by the end of the next day we arrived in the Bay Area.

I grew up in San Francisco so my friends and family are scattered throughout the Bay, and since we had been living in Humboldt for the last six months, this was an opportunity to spend some quality time with them. The closer to San Francisco your hotel is, the more expensive it is. Well, the same holds true for RV Parks. Marin RV Park in Larkspur, CA is no different. Is that extra price worth it? After our tour of the Grand Canyon Caverns we hitched up and got back onto Route 66. On Maple’s mom’s recommendation we stopped for breakfast at the fantastic Westside Lilo’s Café in Seligman before continuing on to Cottonwood.

Going to visit Maple’s parents is always fun and gives us an opportunity to see new places and to revisit the beautiful old mining town of Jerome. And since Maple’s mom works as caretaker for the Verde Valley Fairgrounds in Cottonwood, AZ, we get to stay in a prime and private spot between the stables and one of the meeting halls. After a few terrific days in Vegas we hitched up and put Nevada in the rear view as we headed towards Arizona to see Maple’s parents. It’s a long beautiful drive and about half way there we decided we’d take the scenic route along old Historic Route 66.

We settled into an easy 55 mph and enjoyed the drive, particularly passing all the Burma Shave signs along the road. However as the sun dropped lower and lower on the horizon and we finally decided to stop for an overnight, it seemed as if the RV parks were all behind us. Finally, just after dark, we came upon the Grand Canyon Caverns RV Park in Peach Springs and happily pulled in for the night. Read on for our review of the park.

Rancheria RV Park (Hat Creek, CA)

Adventures of Semalu RV Park Review Rancheria Hatcreek

After a few days at the Willow Creek golf course helping out with a friend’s wedding, we hitched up and headed east towards Nevada. Knowing we’d be passing through Lassen National Forest we scheduled a few days at the Rancheria RV Park, in Hat Creek, CA.

We still weren’t quite settled into the Airstream and hadn’t dumped our tanks yet, and after all the running around we really just wanted a few days to relax before heading to Reno. And since we both love Lassen so much, we knew we would have a great time exploring while we were there. Read on for our review of the park.
