Adventures of Semalu RV Park Review Mad River Arcata

After finishing up our trip visiting friends and family in the Bay Area, we headed north to Humboldt County to settle in for a while. On our way there we couldn’t resist a detour down the Avenue of the Giants to drive beneath the majestic redwoods.

Arriving in Humboldt we pulled into our home base for the next few months, Mad River Rapids RV Park in Arcata, CA. We were hoping to snag a monthly spot and while it took a few days, the owner was able to fit us in. Read on for our review of the park.

After a couple nights in Marin we headed north for the rest of our stay in the Bay Area before heading back up to Humboldt County. We still had things to do and friends and family to see. Maple did an exhaustive search and found the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, CA. This was where we finally had our first rain while in the Airstream. Spoiler alert, we love the rain. Marin RV Park (Larkspur, CA)

Adventures of Semalu RV Park Review Marin RV Park

After a week in Arizona we hitched up and settled in for a long drive back up to Humboldt County with a short stop planned in the San Francisco Bay Area. We made some stops of course while passing through Arizona and stopped for a quick overnight in the Mojave desert at a beautiful and busy rest stop. But by the end of the next day we arrived in the Bay Area.

I grew up in San Francisco so my friends and family are scattered throughout the Bay, and since we had been living in Humboldt for the last six months, this was an opportunity to spend some quality time with them. The closer to San Francisco your hotel is, the more expensive it is. Well, the same holds true for RV Parks. Marin RV Park in Larkspur, CA is no different. Is that extra price worth it? Rancheria RV Park (Hat Creek, CA)

Adventures of Semalu RV Park Review Rancheria Hatcreek

After a few days at the Willow Creek golf course helping out with a friend’s wedding, we hitched up and headed east towards Nevada. Knowing we’d be passing through Lassen National Forest we scheduled a few days at the Rancheria RV Park, in Hat Creek, CA.

We still weren’t quite settled into the Airstream and hadn’t dumped our tanks yet, and after all the running around we really just wanted a few days to relax before heading to Reno. And since we both love Lassen so much, we knew we would have a great time exploring while we were there. Read on for our review of the park.

Emerald Forest RV Park (Trinidad, CA)

Adventures of Semalu RV Park Review Emerald Forest Trinidad

After buying our new Airstream, we spent a couple of weeks shopping for the basic supplies we’d need to live in it full time. And we also cannibalized our camping gear as much as possible to save a few bucks. We only had two weeks to vacate the rental we were staying at so we just crammed everything in and headed out to the Humboldt County coast to set things up and figure out how to make it work.

We we’re going to a wedding in Willow Creek the following week, where we would be staying at the Golf Course, so we only needed a few nights in an RV Park. After looking at pictures on their website, we decided to spend those nights at the Emerald Forest RV Park in Trinidad, CA. We were mostly just going to be setting up and organizing the space, so why not do it someplace beautiful! Read on for our review of the park.

Redding Premier RV Resort (Redding, CA)

Adventures of Semalu RV Park Review Redding Premier Resort

The morning we picked up our Airstream from Bay Area Airstream Adventures, we headed north for Humboldt County and stayed at our very first RV park. This was a brand new experience for us and we we’re excited!

We didn’t have any gear or supplies yet, with the exception of a few things we picked up at the dealership and at Camping World in Redding. It was my first time towing anything and neither of us felt brave enough to drive the windy CA299 in the dark. So we opened up the Good Sam app and found Redding Premier RV Resort.
