Mad River Rapids RV Park (Arcata, CA)

Adventures of Semalu RV Park Review Mad River Arcata

After finishing up our trip visiting friends and family in the Bay Area, we headed north to Humboldt County to settle in for a while. On our way there we couldn’t resist a detour down the Avenue of the Giants to drive beneath the majestic redwoods.

Arriving in Humboldt we pulled into our home base for the next few months, Mad River Rapids RV Park in Arcata, CA. We were hoping to snag a monthly spot and while it took a few days, the owner was able to fit us in. Read on for our review of the park.

After a couple nights in Marin we headed north for the rest of our stay in the Bay Area before heading back up to Humboldt County. We still had things to do and friends and family to see. Maple did an exhaustive search and found the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, CA. This was where we finally had our first rain while in the Airstream. Spoiler alert, we love the rain. Grand Canyon Caverns RV Park (Peach Springs, AZ)

After a few terrific days in Vegas we hitched up and put Nevada in the rear view as we headed towards Arizona to see Maple’s parents. It’s a long beautiful drive and about half way there we decided we’d take the scenic route along old Historic Route 66.

We settled into an easy 55 mph and enjoyed the drive, particularly passing all the Burma Shave signs along the road. However as the sun dropped lower and lower on the horizon and we finally decided to stop for an overnight, it seemed as if the RV parks were all behind us. Finally, just after dark, we came upon the Grand Canyon Caverns RV Park in Peach Springs and happily pulled in for the night. Read on for our review of the park.

Circus Circus RV Park (Las Vegas, NV)

Adventures of Semalu RV Park Review Circus Circus RV Park

After a nice week in Reno we planned on going to Arizona to visit Maple’s parents and figured we should stop in Las Vegas for a few days since it’s on the way, and we love Las Vegas. I had some kind of stomach bug the morning we left so we got a late start and ended up getting into Las Vegas at almost two in the morning. I was tired and not feeling great but was excited to drive Semalú down the strip at night!

There’s lots to do, see, and eat in Las Vegas and the town is just kind of special to us. However when we’re in Vegas we like to stay on the strip and, luckily for us, the Circus Circus RV Park is right on the strip. Well almost, it’s just behind the Circus Circus Hotel, but it is a quick Lyft ride to anywhere on the strip. Read on for our review of the park.

Bordertown RV Resort (Reno, NV)

Adventures of Semalu RV Park Review Bordertown Reno

After a few days of exploring, and finishing up settling in, we hitched up and headed towards Nevada to spend a week with Maple’s brother and his two kids. As it turned out we we’re heading into Reno while the Street Vibrations motorcycle rally was going on and most of the RV parks in Reno/Sparks were all booked up.

Thanks to the GoodSam app however we found the highly rated Bordertown RV Resort in Bordertown, NV. That left us about 20 minutes outside of Reno which was close enough for our needs. Read on for our review of the park.

Redding Premier RV Resort (Redding, CA)

Adventures of Semalu RV Park Review Redding Premier Resort

The morning we picked up our Airstream from Bay Area Airstream Adventures, we headed north for Humboldt County and stayed at our very first RV park. This was a brand new experience for us and we we’re excited!

We didn’t have any gear or supplies yet, with the exception of a few things we picked up at the dealership and at Camping World in Redding. It was my first time towing anything and neither of us felt brave enough to drive the windy CA299 in the dark. So we opened up the Good Sam app and found Redding Premier RV Resort.
