After a couple nights in Marin we headed north for the rest of our stay in the Bay Area before heading back up to Humboldt County. We still had things to do and friends and family to see. Maple did an exhaustive search and found the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, CA. This was where we finally had our first rain while in the Airstream. Spoiler alert, we love the rain. Read on for our review of the park.
THE GOOD:
Sonoma County Fairgrounds RV Park is located an hour north of San Francisco and is very affordable, particularly with a Passport America membership! The gravel sites all have full hookups with a shared garbage can for every two sites. The park is well lit and there is one bathroom building in the center of the park. Finally, the staff is friendly and helpful.
THE BAD:
There is no laundry, no dog run, and only a few sites have picnic tables. The bathrooms and showers are older and small but they get the job done. The one big downside is that due to county rules you can only stay here once in any given 30 day period, regardless of how long you stay.
THE VERDICT:
There isn’t anything amazing to write home about at this park, but there isn’t really much to complain about either. It’s just a good solid place to stay if you’re visiting the San Francisco Bay Area. We’ll certainly be back!
