In late 2015 we decided to sell our house in the East Bay in the San Francisco Bay Area and move up to Humboldt County to follow our dreams. After the house sold in 2016, and plans to buy a house up there fell through, we adjusted our plans. We’ve both been fascinated with Airstreams our entire lives and decided to bite the silver bullet and buy one of our own.

Motley is an 18 lb terrorist that thinks he’s a wolf. Cuddling under the blankets is his favorite.

We are Raul and Maple, a couple of full time travelers living in our very first travel trailer, a 30 foot Flying Cloud Airstream, we’ve named Semalú. Accompanied by our dogs Motley and Ripley, we are taking advantage of always having our home with us and planning our first big semi cross country road trip.

Semalú is named after the Yaqui word for hummingbird and inspired by the book “The Hummingbird’s Daughter“.

Before we chose to buy a new Airstream, we wanted to buy and renovate a vintage Airstream. However we just didn’t have the time and needed our new home quickly, so we headed to Bay Area Airstream where our new friend Sandy helped us out. We still hope to renovate a vintage trailer someday!

Why We're Here

When we decided to buy a trailer we had zero knowledge or experience. We were not only first time RV owners, we were first time full timers as well. We ended up doing hundreds of hours of research throughout the process, from choosing a tow vehicle to outfitting the trailer. And even now we’re still learning everyday. Follow along as we learn our way through tiny living!

If you like our Instagram feed or our blog and you want to support us, please consider buying something from our RV Life Shop. The shop is a painstakingly curated list of all the things you may need or want to equip your RV for travel or full time living. You’re not actually ordering from us, you’re getting what you need from Amazon and each item you buy pays us a small commission. It doesn’t cost you a penny more and it helps us with gas money.

We truly hope you find the site useful, inspirational, interesting, or entertaining!
